தனிய நாள் என்பது மலையாளத்தின் கொல்லம் ஆண்டை அடிப்படையாக வைத்து கணக்கெடுக்க ஒரு நிகழ்வு. கொல்லம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு இந்த தனிய நாள் என்பது கிடையாது. தனிய நாளை பற்றி நமது தமிழகத்தை தவிர எந்த மாநிலங்களிலும் இதற்கு கணக்கு போடுவது கிடையாது . ஆக இந்த தனிய நாளில் சுப காரிய நிகழ்வுகளை செய்யாமல் இருப்பது நலம் என்று சொல்லுவோம். இந்த தனிய நாளில் வாகனம் ஏறுவது, புதிய வண்டி வாகனங்கள் வாங்குவது , புதிய முயற்சிகளை செய்வது, புதிய வீடு கட்டுவது, கிரகப்பிரவேசம் உள்ளே நுழைவது, திருமணம் நடத்துவது ஆக எந்த சுப காரியங்களாக இருந்தாலும் இந்த தனிய நாளை தவிர்த்து விட வேண்டும்.
