According to Vastu principles, the layout of a plot of land

should ideally be square or rectangular. When the shape of the plot deviates from this standard, the auspiciousness—or *Yoga*—associated with Vastu will vary depending on the specific direction in which the plot is deficient. Consequently, under no circumstances should a plot of land be missing its northeastern section. Furthermore, a plot should not be missing its northwestern or western sections; similarly, it should not be missing its southeastern or southern sections. Apart from these specific areas, if a plot is missing a section in any other location, it does not constitute a *Dosha* (defect) according to Vastu. Nevertheless, one should strive to select a plot that is square or rectangular in shape whenever possible; otherwise, provided that the plot is not missing any of the aforementioned critical sections, it is considered free of Vastu defects.
