Chimneys in the kitchen should be Vastu style.  At that time it was a food made without adding much oil.  But today no food is prepared without oil.  Medicine prescribes how much oil should be added to a person’s diet.  That means a man should not add more than 500ml of oil per month.  But today no one takes account like that.  They use more than that.  This is the calculation even including the oil additives.  So these days smoke detectors are a must in the kitchen due to the high consumption of oil.  In this place it would be naturally better to have cemented chimneys as in the olden days and openings in the upper floor to ventilate naturally.  But architecturally it will give error.  If you say that you are setting up a private kitchen, you can freely do that thing without being attached to the house.  When constructing a kitchen in the south-east part of the house, things like an exhaust fan or a chimney should be kept, and a corner cut structure with brick cement should not be built for any reason.  If you say that you are placing the chimney and exhaust pan, then it should be placed on the south wall.  It should not be hung on the east wall.  Know and implement this architecturally.

சமையலறை என்பது மிகவும் சுத்தமாக இருக்க வேண்டும். ஒருவர் சமையல் அறைக்குள் நுழைகின்ற பொழுது வரவேற்பறை நீங்கள் நுழைந்தால் எப்படி எந்தவிதமான அசுத்தங்களும் இல்லாது எந்த வாசமும் இல்லாதது இருக்கின்றதோ அதுபோல ஒரு இல்லத்தின் சமையலறை இருக்க வேண்டும். சமையல் அறைதான் ஒரு இல்லத்தில் பிரதானம் என்று சொல்லுவேன். அந்த வகையில் சமையலறை சரியான முறையில் அமைக்கின்ற இடம் என்பது தென்கிழக்கு திசை ஆகும். இரண்டாவதாக தான் வடமேற்கு திசையை சமையலறைக்கு கொடுக்கின்றார்கள். பிரதான இல்லத்தில் எப்பொழுதுமே தென்கிழக்கு தான் சமயலறைக்கு பிரதானப்படுத்த வேண்டும். ஒரு சில இடங்களில் தெற்கு பார்த்த வீடுகளில் மட்டும் சமையலறை என்பது வடமேற்கு செல்லக்கூடிய நிகழ்வாக இருக்கும். அதுவும் என்னை பொறுத்த அளவில் தென்கிழக்கு பகுதிகளிலேயே அமைக்கின்ற முறையில் அமைத்து தருகின்றேன். சமைக்கின்ற பொழுது சமைக்கின்ற அடுப்பு மேற்கு பார்த்தும் சமைக்கின்ற பெண்மணி கிழக்கு பார்த்தும் இருக்க வேண்டும். சமையல் அறை அருகில் வைக்கின்ற பொருட்களுக்கான இடம் என்பது முக்கியம். அதேபோல் கிழக்குப் பகுதியில் வடக்கு பக்கத்தில் தண்ணீர் அலும்புகின்ற அந்த சிங்க் இருக்க வேண்டும். அதை இன்றைய காலகட்டத்தில் மனம் போன போக்கில் பல இடங்களில் மாற்றி வைக்கின்றார்கள். அது எக்காரணம் கொண்டும் தென்மேற்கு பகுதிக்கு போகக்கூடாது. அதேபோல சமையல் சாமான்கள் வைக்கவும் சமையலுக்கு தேவையான பொருட்களை வைக்கவும் அலமாரிகள் என்பது தெற்கு பகுதியிலும் மேற்கு பகுதியிலும் வைத்துக் கொள்ளலாம். இதனை பொருத்தி ஒரு சமையலறையை அமைக்கும் பொழுது மிகுந்த யோகத்தை கொடுக்கிற சமையல் அறையாக இருக்கும். சமையல் அறையில் ஓவன் மற்றும் டிஸ்வாசர் போன்ற சாதனங்களை சரியான முறையில் சரியான திசையில் வைக்கும் பொழுது மிகுந்த யோகத்தை கொடுக்கும்.
